Jenni Kayne is a brand I’ve heard about for a few years, and have seen many posts on IG of influencers wearing their products. I remembered looking it up once and was shocked at the prices, and never really looked into them. The other day I got a Jenni Kayne catalog in the mail, as a store is opening nearby. As I was flipping through the catalog (which I love doing because it’s not often you get paper catalogs!), I realized why I always see them online. Their styles are simpler and more minimalistic, but that also makes it super versatile and easy to wear many ways. I went to look up some of the products online, and saw that they were on sale at Nordstrom’s, but it looks like they no longer carry the brand and perhaps the sale was for getting rid of the rest of the inventory?
I ordered the Everyday Crewneck in Ivory and the Crop Wool & Cashmere Cardigan in camel. I ordered them when they were on sale at 40% each, and they were still expensive. To be honest, I really didn’t want to like them. They were a lot of money for “basics”. But after trying them on and wearing them for a few months, I get why they’re so expensive. The quality of the sweaters is sooo nice. The fabric wasn’t itchy at all, and draped so well on the body. The cardigan was cropped but hit me at the perfect length being petite, and the looser sleeves added a relaxed tough. On Nordstrom’s website the reviews were not great, so I really had my expectations set low, but I was really pleasantly surprised. Not only were the fabrics soft, but the colors were also the perfect shades to go with everything.

One thing I was greatly disappointed in though was the pilling. After the first day of wearing the cardigan, I noticed some pilling on the sweater. Yes, pilling is to be expected in any sweater, and I do have sweater shavers to help minimize the look of it, but for a sweater this expensive I didn’t think it would happen so quickly. After a few wears, the pilling was pretty significant. But I still do love the sweater, and love the look and feel of it. For the price, I expected better and own other sweaters at a similar or even lower price points that hold up better.
Would I buy these at full price? Probably not. Jenni Kayne does not do sales often, but they do occasionally do 20% off, and on Instagram you can find codes bloggers are giving out, usually at 15% off. Nordstrom’s 40% off was the best sale I’ve ever seen, and knowing that there are other promotions out there I would probably wait around for another one before purchasing another item. That being said, I will definitely buy more as they do make the perfect additions since they can be worn so many ways and so easily. I’m also hoping maybe the other fabrications won’t pill as easily! The Everyday sweater has held up well, and would probably go for that fabric go forward.
