Worth the Money? – Stanley Quencher Tumblers

They’re been around for a bit now, but if you follow any influencer on Instagram or TikTok you’ve probably seen these giant tumblers. This tumbler is forever selling out on their website, and the wait list has been in the thousands. What’s so great about this cup? I had to buy one myself to try it out.

While the tumbler is sold out constantly on their website, you can find it elsewhere. I personally got mine from REI, but even places like Target, Whole Foods, or Williams Sonoma carry the cups. The Quencher is an insulated tumbler that claims to keep drinks cold for 11, iced for 2 days, or hot for 7 hours. It also holds a whopping 40 oz of liquid. Priced at $40 for the 40 oz, it’s quite the expensive cup, but as someone who is trying to drink more water, I thought I’d give it a shot.

The first thing I noticed about the tumbler when I first got it was the size. Yes 40 oz is a LOT, but you never really think of how big that translates to in a cup. It’s huge, and it’s not light. Plus with ice and water, it weighs a decent amount. My husband thought I was ridiculous for carrying around a cup of water that’s almost half the size of me. But then I realized just how much water I was drinking in a day since getting it, and I was convinced. Since it’s so large, I love that I don’t have to refill it constantly. The handle makes it so easy to carry around as well, which is needed for how large and bulky it is.

The biggest difference for me for the Stanley Quencher versus any other cup I’ve ever had is the size of the straw. The straw is much wider than a standard straw, allowing for more water per sip. It didn’t feel like I was drinking more water than normal, but I was needing to refill more and this cup is twice as larger as any other that I normally used. The first week I had it I noticed i was easily drinking 80 oz a day as I was refilling it multiple times!

The one down side to this cup for me besides the weight was the insulation. While it claims to keep ice cold for 2 days, I honestly feel like it doesn’t keep my drinks as cold as other insulated cups I own. I fill my cup with ice and water at night, and I often wake up to all of my ice melted, which is clearly not 2 days. The other down side is that I have found it does not always fit in cup holders, depending on the car. This makes it not as easy to travel with, especially due to it’s large size, so I tend to keep mine at home.

I love my Stanley and use it every day, and even convinced my husband to get one and he loves it. I’ve had mine for a few months now, and it’s pretty much the only thing I use for water. Is it worth the $40? For how much I use it and how much more water I’m drinking absolutely, but I definitely don’t see the need to purchase more than one! I also recommend looking at other sites for lower shipping costs (or free in store pick up) that won’t add the extra $10 shipping fee Stanely’s website does. My local Whole Foods had a ton in stock in different colors when I went the other day, so I would check there as well if you’ve been trying to get your hands on one!
