If there’s any brand that’s made a comeback like no other, it has to be Bottega Venetta. Daniel Lee did an exceptional job during his time there, making the brand trendy and desirable and coming out with It bag after It bag.

When ‘The Pouch’ first came out, I loved the bag. It looks like a dumpling (which I love), and is different and is beautiful like a piece of art. Being a designer piece, it’s a very expensive bag and I could never justify the price for a clutch as I couldn’t see myself using it that often. I loved the mini version that came with a crossbody strap, but it was too small to fit a phone and wasn’t practical. They came out with the “Teen” size which is much more petite friendly proportionally, but the larger size bag is definitely more of a classic.

Now a few years after the launch of the bag (it was released in 2019), I thought it would be easier to find at a lower price. But it’s still trendy and now with a new size and different fabrics and materials, the bag is still as desirable as ever. I have even visited the Bottega Venetta outlets in hope to magically find one. Even looking around on resale sites the pricing was barely lower than retail, some even with significant damage on it.

The moment I could only have ever dreamed about finally happened. I walked into the TJ Maxx near me which has a Runway section, and they had a Bottega Venetta Pouch Bag in the glass case. It was a beautiful neutral color that would go with everything. I went to get a closer look, to my disbelief it was on clearance with a giant red sticker. The clearance price listed was almost 70% off the retail, there was no way I could pass it up. It came with a dust bag, all the tags and the paperwork, and didn’t have any scratches or marks on the bag. The only thing “wrong” with it was it’s a color that is no longer being made. It seemed almost too good to be true, or just my patience paid off and it was just waiting for me.

While I didn’t see myself ever using a clutch, after taking the bag home and trying it out I realized why it’s so loved. It holds so much, and is such a beautifully crafted piece. While it doesn’t have any handles, it’s the right size to tuck under your arm. It’s perfect to bring to brunch, or date night, and I love how easy it is to wear. The color is also a beautiful stone/light grey color, something I don’t have but easily goes with my wardrobe.

TJ Maxx Online currently has a few bags by Bottega on their site, including the newer size of The Pouch bag, however the pricing is much higher than I paid in stores. If you are near a Runway store, I do suggest checking often!
