Worth the Money? – Slip Silk Pillow Cases

I used to use regular pillow cases, and I would always wake up with the craziest lines all over my face. My hair would also be a mess, and it was clear there was damage. I found a Slip Silk Pillow Case while I was at TJ Maxx, and it was such a great price I bought it. It was printed, and definitely didn’t go with anything in my room but for the price I had to try it. After a week of using a silk pillow case, I never went back.

The difference between using a silk pillow case vs a regular one is night and day. My hair isn’t as frizzy in the morning. I don’t wake up with crazy lines all over my face. My skin doesn’t break out as much, even though I didn’t change my skin care and washed my pillow cases frequently. Also, they’re so soft and luxe feeling.

Slip brand silk pillow cases are expensive. Since I had gotten one and loved it, I really wanted to get another one, preferably in a neutral color. But I just couldn’t justify the price for one full price. Many other companies also make silk pillow cases, so I decided to try some thinking I could find a lower priced alternative. I tried ones at various price point, from multiple places ranging from $5 to $60. For the price I paid trying to find an alternative, I should have just gotten the real thing since nothing else I found compared. Yes, they were all made out of silk. But the quality difference, and more noticeably the difference after washing it (even with silk wash), the Slip brands were by far the best. I’ve had one for a few years now, and it still looks pristine.

Of course since I spent all the effort trying to find one for less, I still couldn’t bring myself to pay full price. Luckily, they often have sales, and I just waited for a promotion! I got a decent percent off, plus a free silk hair tie (another one of my must have favorites). If I had started with a different brand first, I may have been happier with that rather than starting with one that’s almost $100 each. Since it’s something I use literally every night, for me it is worth the price tag, especially since they last for years.
