I love my Dyson Airwrap, and it’s an item I really don’t know how I could do without. When I saw that Dyson came out with a hair straightener that was cordless, I was intrigued but really had no need for one, and definitely couldn’t justify the price tag. I don’t own a hair straightener as my hair is pretty straight, and it’s just not a product category I know much about. On Instagram, I saw a few people I follow use the Corrale to make beachy waves, s curls, and different textures with it. That caught my attention. As much as I love my Airwrap, it doesn’t keep curls as well as a traditional curling iron, which is fine for everyday but for certain occasions I want more of a strong hold.
I was extremely lucky to find a Dyson Corrale Straightener at TJ Maxx on clearance for $129. For 75% off, I knew I would never get a chance like this and purchased it. I watched a LOT of videos and tutorials and practiced a lot in order to figure out how to use it. On Reels it looks so easy to curl your hair with a straightener, but to me it didn’t come as easily. As someone who is not an expert, I do have the say being cordless helped a ton. My mobility wasn’t restricted from the cord while I was trying to curl my hair, and while it’s a bit bulkier and weights a bit more than a regular iron I didn’t have any trouble at all. The curls lasted really well, and had a more defined look than I would get from the AirWrap. I also loved that i could add a bit of texture and movement to my hair with it, and give my normally straight hair a little more interest. It can do a lot more than just straighten hair, I’m just getting the hang of it!

Pros:
• It heats up SUPER fast, and has adjustable temperatures depending on your hair needs
• It’s cordless, which is different and makes it super easy to use
• The flex plates allows for less pulling and less damage on your hair
• The auto shut off gives me such a piece of mind, I always have a fear or leaving a hair tool on and burning down the house
Cons:
• The price, it’s EXPENSIVE. I don’t think I would ever pay full price for this product, and for every day I prefer the Airwrap.
• The battery life is 30 minutes without charging. While I’ve never had an issue with the battery, I do have straight hair so I only use it to curl or style my hair. I could see this being an issue if you’re trying to straighten!
Is it worth the $500 price tag? Personally, for me I would say no. I think there are so many other straighteners out there for much less, just maybe not cordless. It is a luxury item and definitely feels like great quality and looks beautiful, and I’m happy to have paid the price I did. If you are looking for it for less, I would recommend Nordstrom Rack as they have refurbished versions for less! If I had to pick between the two Dyson Hair products, I will always pick the AirWrap as it is so versatile and unlike anything else.
