Worth the Money? – Skims

Love her or not, you have to admit that Kim K is an amazing business woman. Her line Skims is now valued to be a multibillion-dollar company, and is based on simple intimates and shapewear. When I bought my first Skims product, I was extremely skeptical. But the reviews were all good, and I ordered through Nordstroms so it was free shipping and free returns, what did I have to lose?

The first item I purchased from Skims was the “Fits Everybody” bralette. I wanted something to lounge around in, and that was comfortable. I had similar bralettes from other places like Hanes, Calvin Klein, and Madewell, and didn’t love any of them, so I figured why not try the Skims one. After wearing it for literally one day, I ordered a second one. It was that good. The material of the Fits Everybody is super stretchy and buttery, and feels like you’re not wearing anything. It doesn’t dig in to your skin, and while not the most supportive bralette, it’s extremely comfortable to wear. I now own a few of these in different cuts and styles, and they’re worn all the time due to how comfortable they are.

The undies are also great, I personally prefer the cotton ones. I also love that they have a bundle deal so you can get a few and save $. They don’t dig in and sit flat, so they’re not visible when you wear them. The cotton is soooo soft and comfortable, and feels much higher quality than other ones I own. I love the dipped front, giving it a bit of a fun detail and also a great cut for any lower rise jeans or pants you may have. I purchased and XS, but considering how stretchy they were I think I will get an XXS next time.

The one down side to Skims besides the price is that I have found the sizes to be odd. There is no consistency in sizes between materials and fabrics, and I’ve had to return quite a few things due to size issues. I love the Fits Everybody and Cotton stretch collection, and haven’t had any sizing issues with those lines, but some of the other collections just don’t fit as well or I’ve felt the fabric quality wasn’t nearly the same. I’m 5’2” and wear a size 24 in jeans, and from Skims I have items that are an XXS, XS, and S, depending on the fabric or item. This inconsistency makes it hard to shop, and I find myself ordering from Nordstroms where they always have free shipping and returns. The downside is they do have a more limited selection and many items are often sold out. The next item on my wish list from Skims is one of their robes, because I know it’ll be super soft and amazing to get ready in every day.
I was able to get a few things on sale at Nordstroms, but I honestly returned most of it because I didn’t love the fabric or fit, so I will now be sticking with the fits everybody or cotton line!
