Rebag: My Experience Trading and Buying On the App

As part of my closet clean out I went through all the bags I own, and thought about which ones I no longer reached for. While I could try and sell them on my own, I happened to be browsing through the Rebag app and saw a Chanel wallet I wanted, but didn’t want to spend the money on. After doing a little research, I learned that you could sell your bags through Rebag, or trade them and use the credit towards something on the site. The thought of giving by bags a new home/chance to be loved and being able to put it towards something else I wanted seemed too good to be true. But I figured, why not try? And after this experience, I will definitely be using them again.

The Trading/Selling Process:

The first step in trading any items you own is to take a few pictures, and answer a few questions about the product. Everything was super easy to do, all through the app, and they walked you through each step. After you submit a claim, you will receive an offer in a few days (mine took 4 days). You can either accept the offer for cash, accept the offer for trade value, or not accept the offer. Before receiving back an offer, I had a $ in mind that I would accept it. Knowing the items are for resale, I knew I wouldn’t get as much back as I would selling on my own, but it also took off the pressure of having to deal with it myself.

When you trade in the bag, you get 25% more back than if you were to get cash back. Since I was trying to buy something else on the site, this was the perfect option for me!! Once I accepted the trade offer they sent, I had to send the bags within 72 hours (they send you a label and everything so it couldn’t be easier). After they receive your items and inspect them, they will verify your trade in value. Mine was the same as the initial offer, but it could be more or it could be less depending on further inspection. You can also submit multiple items at once! I traded in two bags, and used the credit of both towards one item, so I would only have to pay the difference.

The Buying Process:

One thing I loved about shopping at Rebag is they really give you all of the information you need. You can filter by category, brand, condition, color, and price to name a few. This allowed me to search for exactly what I was looking for very easily. I could also save any items I liked to find them easily later. Since most items are preloved, I really liked that they gave details on the conditions. The condition of the item is ranked, (i.e. good, very good, excellent) and details of why it has that ranking, (like scratched hardware, slouched shape, etc). I love this because I know exactly what to expect, and exactly what I’m getting. Luxury items have low inventory right now in stores, and resale sites like Rebag may have higher than retail values so make sure you do a little research to make sure you’re getting a good price! I paid around retail price for a preloved item, but it wasn’t available in store and it was in excellent condition so it was worth it for me.

The Arrival:

If you are trading an item for credit to purchase something from their site, your new item will not ship until your traded items are received and verified. Your item will be taken off the site so you don’t have to worry about it being sold during the process! But it will take a little longer to receive the item. Since I was in no rush, this was not a concern for me but from starting the trade to receiving my item did take around 2 weeks from start to finish. I had ordered a Chanel wallet, and it came well packed and exactly as described. It also came with a certification card verifying its authentication.

Overall thoughts: My overall experience with this whole process exceeded all my expectations. I love that I can trade in items for credit towards new items. I love that I can do everything online and get a price on my items without having to physically send them in. I loved that there was no commitment when submitting trade in request, and that I could say no. I would recommend Rebag for anyone looking to make a luxury bag purchase and are okay with preloved items. If you are looking for a specific item or look, preloved/resale sites are more likely to have it than in retail stores as well. Also unlike some other popular luxury resale sites, you can return items if you don’t love it. If I’m spending a lot of money on an item, being able to return is one of the most important factors for me since I want to absolutely love what I bought. Rebag also often has sales and promotions, which is the prefect time to grab anything you’ve been eyeing!
