Summer Fridays Butter Lip Balm: New Packaging, New Shade Review

I have always been a big fan of the brand Summer Fridays. Their products are amazing and speak for them selves, but the company does so many things that continue to make me a loyal customer. Their products are cruelty free, vegan, and paraban free. They have a recycling program where you can send back your empty containers. They have the cutest merch along with product launches (I have the Emi Jay hairclip and the cloud sweats). But my all time favorite product from Summer Fridays is hands down the Lip Butter Balm.

After first trying their Jet Lag mask and overtime mask, I usually buy a new Summer Fridays product right after they launch because I have not yet been disappointed by any of their products. The lip balm went above and beyond all of my expectations. So much so that I literally never go without it, I have one specifically for one and one that stays in my purse so I’m never without it. It’s the only lip product I have purchased that I have finished entirely and have repurchased (multiple times). It saves my lips from getting chapped, especially in the winter, and isn’t heavy or sticky so it’s easy to wear every day. It also has the slightest hint of vanilla, so the scent never overwhelming. Most importantly for me, I have sensitive skin and I often get little bumps from product around my lips if I leave it on for too long (I love the Laneige lip mask but I can’t sleep with it on for this reason!) but this one never effects my skin ever.

When I saw that they were repackaging the Butter Lip Balm, I was intrigued. After owning 4 different tubes of this lip balm, I have never had an issue with the packaging. But I know several people who refuse to use it because of it, and I was shocked to see how many reviews online complaining about the packaging. I follow them in IG and saw hints of the update, and loved the company even more for listening to their customers.

Along with new packaging, they also released a new color of the lip balm. Obviously, I had to order it immediately, and I received it in the mail just 2 days after it launched (perks of having a Sephora Rouge membership).  The new packaging is everything I didn’t know I needed. The tube is updated super easy to squeeze, although a much larger size than the original one (but still contains the same amount of product). The applicator is curved unlike the flat angled ones that usually some in a lip balm, which makes it SO easy to use since it hugs the curves of your lip perfectly. I had ordered the new Vanilla Beige shade since I already own the original vanilla shade, but I will definitely be ordering one with the new packaging, especially since I know I love it. The new shade is a beautiful color, it applies much more sheer than I thought it would at first glance but it leaves a beautiful hint of color. Summer Fridays nailed it yet again, and I can’t wait to see what else they have in the future, and hopefully we won’t have to wait too long for the next product!
