An article of clothing that is an absolute must have for every closet and any season is a white t-shirt. Finding a white t-shirt may seem like an easy task, but finding the perfect white t-shirt isn’t easy. I always always always have a good stock of white t-shirts in my closet because they are literally wearable with anything, and they don’t tend to last as long as other pieced in my closet because one stain and they’re pretty much done for.

What I look for:
- The fit – Is it boxy and over sized? Is it more fitted for layering with a blazer or jacket?
- The material – Is it a thicker cotton? Or is it more of a synthetic blend? The softer the fabric is, I find that the life of the shirt seems to shorten.
- The sheerness – My biggest reason for not getting a white t-shirt is if it’s see through. I don’t want to have to worry about layering a tank top underneath, I just want to wear it and go. I also want to make sure any bra lines aren’t visible, no one wants to see that
- The price – Since I know white doesn’t last as long as say a black t shirt would, I’m not willing to spend as much money on it. Yes there are a ton of great white t shorts fro a higher price point, but I personally cant justify it.
Where I buy them:
White t’s are something I’m ALWAYS on the lookout for whenever I go shopping. I wear them all the time, all year round, so you can never had too many in my opinion. For the best value for the price, I do love Zara t-shirts. They have the standard crew neck tee all the time which is such a great staple, and then they usually have more “trendy” versions like the shoulder pads, or a muscle tee cut, pocket details, or something that adds a little extra to the shirt. Theory and Re/done are among some of my favorite shirts, but they are definitely way more expensive and not something I would pay full price for. When I do find them on sale or at off price, I definitely grab every one I can!
How I keep them white:
The biggest issue with white t-shirts is like many people, keeping them white. I like to wash them right after I wear them so stains don’t have any time to set in, and I use non-chlorine bleach to soak them if they need an extra boost of whitening. Chlorine can break down fabrics (especially if you have a t shirt with any stretch in it), so I prefer non-chlorine bleach!
