A summer wardrobe staple for a lot of people is a denim jacket. They’re so easy to throw on when it gets a little cool, and are so low maintenance. You never really have to worry about if it will match your outfit, since denim magically goes with everything. For me, denim jackets are a go-to all year round. In the summer I love to throw them on over a t-shirt dress or maxi for an effortless cool vibe, or over a fancier silkier dress to make it more casual. It also pairs amazing with white jeans or shorts and a tee. In the fall they go great with black or grey jeans, or even some faux leather. The options are endless.
Denim jackets have been around forever, but recently there are so many new and different styles. They come in any color from white, any traditional denim range from light wash to dark wash, to black and even colored denim. There are oversized “boyfriend” fits, shorter cropped lengths, and everything in between. There are also embellished and detailed versions, to more casual attached hoodie looks. There is a version for any look.
I love having a little bit of everything. My absolute favorite denim jacket I own is one I found on sale at Zara years ago and is oversized, slightly distressed, and perfectly lived in. I also have a non-distressed classic medium wash one that goes with everything. There is also a pearl embellished, an oversized black denim, and a cropped very distressed version in my collection. Sometimes a certain outfit calls for a certain look, and I’m just trying to cover all my bases 🙂 Plus I can wear them all year round, so its wroth having a few for me.
Personally I don’t think it’s an item worth splurging on, unless there is a specific look you are trying to get. There are so many ones you can find at lower prince points, and even vintage, that are amazing. I always start my denim jacket search at off price retailers as well, since you can always find them there for a much lower price.
Below are some of my favorite versions of denim jackets!
